Alicia Silverstone Makes a Glamorous Return to the Oscars
Alicia Silverstone returned to the Oscars red carpet on March 15, marking her first attendance at the prestigious ceremony in nearly three decades. The actress previously graced the Academy Awards in 1996.
Stepping onto the red carpet for the 2026 ceremony, held in Los Angeles, Silverstone showcased Old Hollywood glamour. She wore a striking strapless gown adorned with velvet and sequins, featuring a plunging black bodice complemented by matching velvet gloves and an elegantly draped white skirt. Her look was further enhanced by gold and diamond drop earrings and a simple necklace.

Silverstone styled her ombré blonde hair in loose waves with a middle part. Her makeup featured bold black eyeliner, a rosy blush, and frosty coral-pink lipstick.
This year marked a notable revival for Silverstone, who last attended the Oscars in 1996, where she wore a V-neck white gown paired with a tulle stole, embodying the decade’s signature “grungy glam.” She whimsically balanced the ethereal gown with smoky eyeshadow and a terracotta lip.
Currently, Silverstone stars in Yorgos Lanthimos’s Oscar-nominated film, Bugonia, alongside Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons. This dark comedy, inspired by a 2003 South Korean film titled Save the Green Planet!, is nominated for four awards this evening, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Earlier this year, Silverstone evoked her iconic role as Cher Horowitz from Clueless at the Golden Globes, wearing a vibrant red gown that mirrored the Alaïa minidress her character famously donned. Despite the film’s reputation as one of the most stylish productions of the 1990s, Silverstone admitted in a past interview that she was not initially interested in fashion.
“What’s funny is, when I got the role for Clueless, I wore jeans,” she recounted. “Actually, my entire auditioning process up until that time, I wore jeans and a green T-shirt. At that age, I never had any interest in fashion at all.”

As her career continues to evolve, Silverstone’s appearances resonate with fans and encapsulate nostalgia, emphasizing her lasting impact on Hollywood and pop culture.
