Anaheim Police Look Into False Mass Shooting Report at Disneyland
Hazmat Scare at Disneyland Sends Seven Cast Members to Hospital
Anaheim, Calif. – A hazmat incident at Disneyland resulted in seven cast members being hospitalized due to reported dizziness, prompting a swift response from local authorities.
The situation escalated on Wednesday night when Anaheim police investigated a false emergency call, known as a "swatting" incident. This deceptive report included allegations of a possible mass shooting and bomb threats within the theme park, leading to a significant police presence, including at least a dozen patrol units. Officers arrived on scene around 9:45 p.m. to secure the area.
Fortunately, police later confirmed that the threats were unfounded and posed no real danger. The park resumed normal operations shortly after the situation was resolved.
Authorities are currently searching for the individual responsible for the hoax call, as their identity remains unknown. Investigators are working to trace the source of the call and have not released information regarding any specific guests or locations targeted in the false alarm.
This incident occurs against a backdrop of heightened security across California, following a recent FBI warning about potential drone attacks linked to Iran. Governor Gavin Newsom emphasized that, while there are no known imminent threats, the state remains prepared for any emergency.
The Anaheim Police Department is advising the public to remain vigilant, stressing that swatting—making false reports to elicit a large-scale police response—is a serious crime that can lead to felony charges.
