Tony Saxon’s Lawsuit Against Ye: Jury Delivers Verdict on Malibu Mansion Dispute
Jury to Announce Verdict in Kanye West Lawsuit
A Los Angeles jury is set to deliver its verdict Wednesday morning in the lawsuit involving handyman Tony Saxon and the artist formerly known as Kanye West. The case centers around allegations of unpaid wages and unsafe working conditions during a renovation project at West’s Malibu mansion.
Tony Saxon claims he was hired in 2021 to oversee renovations at a rate of $20,000 per week but was only compensated through one salary payment and an advance of $100,000 for construction costs before he was terminated. Allegations in the lawsuit include breach of contract and claims that Saxon faced hazardous work conditions.
Saxon testified that he was forced to sleep on the floor of the mansion and was eventually fired in November 2021 after refusing to comply with "dangerous requests" that lacked proper safety measures. In his testimony, West expressed uncertainty about his role as CEO of Yeezy Construction and made comments about Saxon’s personal hygiene.
The jury reached a decision late Tuesday afternoon, but Judge Brock T. Hammond opted to delay the announcement until Wednesday morning. While the jury’s findings on Saxon’s claims remain undisclosed, the potential implications of the verdict for West’s other business ventures hang in the balance.
On the day Saxon was terminated, West allegedly told him, “If you don’t do what I say, you’re not going to work for me, I’m not gonna be your friend anymore, and you’ll just see me on TV.” When Saxon replied that he didn’t watch television, West reportedly responded with a stern "Leave."
Following the verdict, both legal teams will evaluate the findings to consider possible grounds for an appeal. If Saxon prevails, the court may initiate enforcement of the judgment, including previously ordered sanctions totaling $3,320 related to delays in legal discovery.
