Tiffany Surprised to Hear Her Song in ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5: “I’m a Huge Fan”
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things has introduced a fresh wave of nostalgia, notably featuring pop icon Tiffany’s 1987 cover of ‘I Think We’re Alone Now.’ The artist expressed her surprise and delight upon discovering that her song was included in the series when it premiered in November.
In an interview with Attitude, Tiffany remarked, “It’s wild and beautiful. When I recorded ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’, I had no idea it would have this kind of life. To see it pop up in something like Stranger Things and connect with a new generation – that’s magic. It reminds me that music doesn’t expire. Songs find the people who need them.”
The impact of her song transcends mere nostalgia. Tiffany noted, “Professionally, it’s exciting – it brings new fans to my shows. Personally, it’s emotional. It’s like watching your child grow up and travel the world. I had no idea they were using it in the show until it happened. I’m a huge fan of the show and I had all my girlfriends messaging me when it aired. My son thought it was pretty cool too – we share a love for sci-fi!”
In Season 5, after the character Vecna abducts Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher) into the Upside Down, Robin (Maya Hawke) learns that ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ serves as Holly’s anchor to reality, paralleling the role of Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)’ for Max (Sadie Sink).

Nearly 40 years after its release, Tiffany’s ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ continues to resonate, appearing not only in Stranger Things but also in the film Pillion and Season 3 of Yellowjackets.
