Couple Identified in Tragic Porter Ranch Murder-Suicide Incident
Tragic Murder-Suicide in Porter Ranch Involves Local Couple
LOS ANGELES – Authorities have identified a husband and wife found dead in their Porter Ranch home this week in what investigators are describing as a suspected murder-suicide. The victims have been named as Zaven Shahverdi, 58, and Melina Avanosian, 55.
The couple was discovered Monday night by their son at their residence on Como Lane. Both suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head. Officers from the LAPD’s Devonshire Community Police Station responded to reports of gunshot victims around 9:20 p.m. and pronounced the couple dead at the scene.
Investigators recovered a firearm at the location, reinforcing the theory of a domestic murder-suicide. Preliminary reports indicate that the couple’s son alerted a neighbor after discovering their bodies, prompting the police response.
As of now, the LAPD has not disclosed a potential motive for the shooting nor determined which individual may have fired the weapon. Although the case is being treated as a murder-suicide, the Medical Examiner’s official determination of the manner of death remains pending.
This incident highlights the urgent need for awareness and resources related to mental health and domestic violence.
