Taylor Swift Chooses Special Vinyl Release of ‘Life of a Showgirl’ for Record Store Day

Taylor Swift, a long-time advocate for Record Store Day, is set to make a significant contribution for the 2026 celebration. On March 2, organizers announced the release of a special vinyl for this year’s event, showcasing a single disc of a beloved track from Swift’s discography, “Life of a Showgirl.”
The exclusive 7-inch record will feature “Elizabeth Taylor,” the third track from her chart-topping 2025 album, isolated from the rest of the LP. This release is set on a striking galactic purple-and-blue vinyl. “Record Store Day just got… So Glamorous,” read the announcement on the event’s Instagram, which also highlighted the product’s black-and-white cover art.
Titled the “Cry My Eyes Violet Glitter” vinyl, the release references a lyric from “Elizabeth Taylor.” The song debuted on October 3, along with the full album, which spent an impressive 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
To date, tracks “The Fate of Ophelia” and “Opalite” from the album have topped the Billboard Hot 100, while “Elizabeth Taylor” made a strong debut at No. 3. The song draws inspiration from the life of the Hollywood icon, whose legendary films include Cleopatra and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Following its release, Taylor’s son, Christopher Wilding, expressed his admiration for Swift’s tribute.
“They are both the very embodiment of female empowerment,” he commented in October. “The way [Swift] has deftly captured the similarities and parallel tracks in their careers and personal lives is delightful.”
As a 14-time Grammy winner, Swift has a history of participating in Record Store Day, which promotes special vinyl releases at independent record shops. Last year, her collaboration with Post Malone on the single “Fortnight” was among the event’s top sellers. In 2022, she made headlines with the vinyl release of Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.
This year’s Record Store Day is scheduled for April 18.
