Lena Dunham expressed her enthusiasm for Travis Kelce following a game she attended with Taylor Swift. On December 8, the 39-year-old creator of Girls took to Instagram to share her admiration for the Kansas City Chiefs tight end after joining Swift in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium for a game on December 7.
Dunham noted, “My first home team (I happen to be a New Yorker who lives in London who roots for Kansas City, so sue me 😍).” While her post did not feature photographs of Swift, Dunham did share selfies alongside her producing partner Michael P. Cohen, both donning Chiefs apparel for the matchup against the Houston Texans.
“If you see me in a new piece of Chiefs merch every day for the next 17 months blame @handler.official and keep moving,” she humorously remarked about her choice of clothing.
Dunham affectionately referred to Swift, stating, “She’s in her sports era.” Reflecting on her newfound interest in football, Dunham shared that her parents now “have questions” because they previously had to encourage her to engage in activities to stay active in childhood.
She concluded her post with, “Love you @killatrav,” tagging Kelce directly.
During the game, Dunham and Cohen were joined by Selena Gomez, another close friend of Swift’s, as they watched the Chiefs succumb to the Texans by a score of 20-10.

Dunham and Swift have maintained a close friendship over the years. In a previous Instagram post from 2024, Dunham shared that she had attended Swift’s concerts “over a dozen times,” describing each experience as “more magical than the next.” A month earlier, Dunham expressed her desire to protect Swift in an interview with The New Yorker, stating, “I’m always very careful to be protective of her in every single way.”
She added that inquiries about Swift are frequent, with the two most common questions being about her character and requests for concert tickets. Dunham emphasized that she generally declines both. Reflecting on the intense scrutiny Swift faces, Dunham noted that the pop star’s personal life has often been subjected to “microscopic” examination and is held to unattainable standards.
