Fred again.. achieved a significant milestone on Thursday, February 26, performing an unreleased song by Harry Styles during his set at Alexandra Palace in London.
He is set to elevate the excitement on Friday, February 27, with a special appearance by Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk at his second and final show at the venue. Fred shared the news on Instagram Stories, expressing his disbelief: “I can’t believe I’m typing this. There is only one way to end this tour of surreal whirlwind dream casting, and it is wit [sic] this man. The greatest.”
In further updates, Fred noted, “We’ve been in the studio all week and basically prepared an entire one-off show jus [sic] for tonight. Me and Thomas Bangalter. One last dance. Doors at 6.”
This collaboration highlights Fred’s penchant for building anticipation. The upcoming performance marks the finale of his USB002 tour, which commenced last fall. Under the theme “10 Weeks/10 Shows/10 Songs,” the tour featured weekly singles released alongside last-minute performance announcements throughout Europe and North America.
This series also included a non-USB002 event in October at Paris’ Centre Pompidou, where Fred shared the stage with notable figures such as Erol Alkan and Busy P. This marked Bangalter’s first public DJ set in 16 years.
Reflecting on that memorable night, Fred said, “Last night I got to play with Thomas Bangalter, Erol Alkan, Busy P at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the last night before it closes for 5 years. Thomas told me in this lift on the way down to the show that the first time he fell in love with electronic music was in this building in 1992. He also told me hasn’t played a proper set without the mask on for 24 years. I didn’t know what to say to either of those things and I still don’t.”
