Man Arrested in Connection with Armed Robberies Targeting USPS Carriers in Los Angeles
A 28-year-old man was taken into custody in Los Angeles on Thursday for his alleged involvement in a series of armed robberies targeting United States Postal Service (USPS) carriers in the San Fernando Valley, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
The robberies began on December 3, 2025, with incidents reported in Valley Village, Studio City, and Sherman Oaks. Additional heists occurred on January 31 and February 21 and 22.
In each robbery, the suspect approached the postal carriers with a firearm, demanding their postal keys and electronic scanners before fleeing the scene in a white Lexus sedan, police reported.
The suspect’s apprehension occurred on February 22, after a robbery in the 5400 block of Ethel Avenue in Sherman Oaks. Law enforcement located and arrested him during a routine traffic stop, discovering evidence in the vehicle that linked him to the crimes.
Authorities have identified the suspect as Andranik Naghdalyan. He is now facing charges of robbery, although an initial court date has not yet been announced.
LAPD officials are currently investigating to determine if there are additional victims. The locations and dates of the robberies are as follows:
- December 3, 2025: Approximately 4:40 p.m., in the 5200 block of Corteen Place, Valley Village
- January 31: Approximately 11:20 a.m., in the 4100 block of Whitsett Avenue, Studio City
- February 21: Approximately 2 p.m., in the 4800 block of Morella Avenue, Studio City
- February 21: Approximately 2:23 p.m., in the 5700 block of Whitsett Avenue, Valley Village
- February 22: Approximately 12:30 p.m., in the 5400 block of Ethel Avenue, Sherman Oaks
Concerns about the safety of USPS employees have grown, as reported incidents of serious crimes against them have risen sharply in recent years. According to a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office, robberies have become one of the fastest-growing crimes, with serious incidents doubling from 609 in 2019 to 1,198 in 2023, based on data from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
