Award-Winning Set Decorators Celebrate ‘One Battle,’ ‘Frankenstein,’ and More at SDSA Film Awards
Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘One Battle After Another’ Triumphs at SDSA Awards
Paul Thomas Anderson’s film One Battle After Another emerged as the standout winner at the Set Decorators Society of America’s 2025 SDSA Awards held on Saturday. The Warner Bros. action film, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, garnered accolades for Best Picture and Best Achievement in Décor/Design of a Contemporary Feature Film. The film’s set decoration was executed by Anthony Carlino, with Florencia Martin serving as the production designer.
The ceremony, which celebrated films released between January 1 and December 31, featured a range of distinguished productions.
In other notable awards, Focus Features’ Hamnet, directed by Chloé Zhao and starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, took home the award for Best Achievement in Décor/Design of a Period Feature Film. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, available on Netflix and featuring Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, won the prize for Best Achievement in Décor/Design of a Fantasy or Science Fiction Film.
Additionally, Wicked: For Good, the second film in Warner Bros.’ Broadway adaptation directed by Jon M. Chu and featuring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, received the award for Best Achievement in Décor/Design of a Comedy or Musical Feature Film. The award for Best Achievement in Décor/Design of a Period Feature Film went to Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, directed by Simon Curtis.
Last year’s SDSA Awards celebrated films such as A Complete Unknown, Wicked, Conclave, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Notably, Wicked‘s production designer Nathan Crowley and set decorator Lee Sandales later won the Production Design Oscar. The Art Directors Guild is set to host its 30th-anniversary Excellence in Production Design Awards on February 28.
The Set Decorators Society of America, an international organization, annually honors the exceptional work seen across a variety of productions.
