Fire in Marina del Rey Harbor Damages Two Boats Overnight
Fire Destroys Yachts in Marina del Rey
A late-night fire in Marina del Rey resulted in the destruction of two yachts. The flames erupted Wednesday evening near the Anchorage at Marina Harbor apartments, prompting a quick response from fire crews.
Firefighters arrived on the scene around 10 p.m. in the 4500 block of Via Marina, where a 50-foot power vessel had caught fire while docked between two other boats. The fire spread to at least one neighboring vessel.
A nearby security guard reported the blaze to 911 and assisted in evacuating two women and their cats from one of the affected boats. Dramatic videos shared on social media captured the scene, showing the harbor illuminated by flames as Los Angeles County Fire crews battled the fire.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and officials have not yet provided details regarding the ownership of the destroyed vessels or any potential fuel leaks or harbor contamination.
