Rescue Operation Saves Man from LA River in Elysian Valley
A 56-year-old man was rescued from the Los Angeles River in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
The incident occurred near the 2200 block of N. Duvall Street shortly before 2 a.m., where the man was found on an “island” in the river. LAFD officials reported that the river boasts a flow rate of 30 mph and a depth of four feet, raising concerns about the dangers posed by the swift currents.
Firefighters successfully hoisted the man from the river and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for symptoms of hypothermia.
As of now, further details regarding his condition have not been released.
