Naomi Watts Embraces Jackie Kennedy’s Style in a Stunning Chainmail Gown and Opera Gloves
Naomi Watts Captivates Red Carpet with Jackie Kennedy Glamour
Naomi Watts made a striking impression at the premiere of American Love Story on February 3, embodying the retro glamour of former First Lady Jackie Kennedy. Dressed in a stunning chainmail optical illusion gown complemented by white opera gloves, Watts showcased her deep commitment to her role as the late style icon in the upcoming series.
Directed by Ryan Murphy, American Love Story dramatizes the romance between Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr., spanning their early courtship to the tragic plane crash. With its February 12 release approaching, the show has already stirred controversy among fans regarding wardrobe choices and character portrayals.
During the February 3 premiere in New York City, Watts exuded the essence of Jackie O., despite sporting a different hairstyle from the dark brunette bouffant featured in her role. Posing alongside co-stars, including Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and Paul Anthony Kelly as JFK Jr., Watts’s multi-textured look included a black gown with a silver chainmail bib that created a visually striking effect.
The gown’s shiny metallic detailing left her shoulders and back exposed, enhancing the dress’s visual appeal. Its sheer mesh slit sleeves and floor-length design, paired with her long white opera gloves, created an effect that made it seem as though the gloves were part of the dress.
As she navigated the red carpet, Watts displayed a dramatic train trailing behind her. Maintaining her signature platinum blonde bob, she styled her hair with retro soft waves and a side part, allowing her statement diamond earrings to catch the light. Her makeup included classic Jackie Kennedy elements, such as rose-pink lipstick, warm peach blush on her cheeks, and defined black liquid eyeliner.
Last summer, Watts was seen portraying Jackie Kennedy in a scene filmed outside Manhattan’s Russian Tea Room, donning a bouffant hairstyle and an elegant ensemble that reflected the fashion icon’s style during her later years.
Watts’s latest appearance solidifies her portrayal as a tribute to a beloved figure in American history, evoking nostalgia while generating excitement for the show’s debut.
