Partial Closure of the 605 Freeway in Pico Rivera This Weekend: What You Need to Know
Lane Reductions Scheduled on Southbound 605 Freeway This Weekend
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced a 55-hour lane reduction on the southbound 605 Freeway, affecting traffic between Rose Hills Road and south of Beverly Boulevard in Pico Rivera. The roadwork is set to commence at 10 p.m. Friday and conclude at 5 a.m. Monday.
During this period, the following lane reductions will take effect:
- 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday: Southbound 605 reduced to one lane.
- 4 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday: Southbound 605 will be limited to two lanes.
- 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday: Southbound 605 will revert to one lane.
All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, according to Caltrans.
In addition to the lane reductions, several ramps will also be affected:
- The Beverly Boulevard off-ramp from southbound 605 will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.
- Both the eastbound and westbound Beverly Boulevard on-ramps to southbound 605 will close from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.
- The Rose Hills Road on-ramp to southbound 605 will also be closed during the same timeframe.
Caltrans has indicated that demolition of old concrete on the freeway will begin Friday night. Residents and businesses near the work area may experience increased noise, vibrations, and dust.
Motorists are advised to avoid the construction zone and consider alternative routes, such as the northbound 110 Freeway, 710 Freeway, and State Route 57.
Caltrans assured that there will be no full freeway closures during the project. Additional 55-hour lane reductions are planned for later this year, though all schedules are subject to change. This work is part of the Super 605 Freeway Enhancement Project, aimed at improving the corridor from Long Beach to the San Gabriel Valley.
