Kaitlyn Dever Excited to Explore Abby’s Perspective in Season 3 of The Last Of Us
Kaitlyn Dever is gearing up for her upcoming role in Season 3 of The Last of Us, expressing her enthusiasm about the new season while preparing for filming. “I’m getting mentally and physically prepped right now. I go up in a couple days, actually, to start prep over there. I’m so excited to kind of take on a much bigger role in the season,” she shared.
The preceding season concluded with a dramatic cliffhanger that left viewers on the edge of their seats. Dever’s character, Abby, had a tense encounter with Ellie (Bella Ramsey) at Ellie’s theater base in Seattle. The culmination saw Abby killing Jesse (Young Mazino) and holding Tommy (Gabriel Luna) at gunpoint, compelling Ellie to emerge from hiding. The episode concluded abruptly, with Abby at the WLF base in the stadium, as the screen displayed “Seattle Day 1,” hinting that the forthcoming episodes will explore events from Abby’s perspective, reminiscent of the original video game narrative.
As production gears up, there has been a creative shift for the show. Neil Druckmann, co-creator and director of the original Naughty Dog video games, has stepped back from his hands-on role in the third season. While he will remain a co-creator and executive producer, he will not be involved in writing or directing this time. Additionally, executive producer and writer Halley Gross, who contributed to The Last of Us Part II, has also exited her day-to-day responsibilities on the series.
As of now, HBO has not confirmed whether Season 3 will be the final installment of the acclaimed series.
The Last of Us, based on the award-winning video game, is set 20 years after the collapse of modern civilization. It follows Joel, portrayed by Pedro Pascal, a tough survivor tasked with smuggling Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What begins as a seemingly simple job evolves into a harrowing journey across the United States, forcing both characters to rely on each other for survival. The upcoming seasons will unfold five years after the events of the first season, plunging Joel and Ellie into new conflicts in a world that has become even more perilous.
