Exciting Sneak Peek at New Seasons of ‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms’ and ‘Euphoria’ from HBO Creators at London Content Showcase
The creative team behind HBO’s upcoming shows, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Euphoria, is generating excitement as they prepare for new season launches.
At a content showcase in London, showrunner Ira Parker described A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as an “up-ramp” for those unfamiliar with the Game of Thrones universe. The debut of Season 1 is slated for January 18, 2026.
“We take you in on a lighter, more friendly path to Westeros,” Parker stated. “You get to hang out and enjoy yourself for a bit and then it becomes Westeros and things are going to happen.”
Parker’s comments come shortly after HBO renewed the series for a second season, even before the first has premiered. He spent significant time on stage with HBO drama chief Francesca Orsi, highlighting the talents of lead actors Dexter Sol Ansell and Peter Claffey, and humorously commenting on the show’s budget compared to Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.
“Our budget is a reflection of Dunk, who comes from nothing,” Parker said. “He is a simple, unpolished human being. There are some wonderful epic shows from within this world that can be enjoyed. We are not that.”
The character Ser Duncan the Tall, portrayed by Claffey, embodies relatability, according to Parker: “I certainly put a lot of myself into him. He’s from the ass-end shithole of Westeros, the slums of King’s Landing and he doesn’t know anyone and he doesn’t know anything. All of these lords and ladies and princes and kings and queens that he encounters seem a little absurd to him, and he doesn’t quite know if people are making fun of him or not. A lot of good natural comedy comes out of the situation.”
The prequel is based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, with HBO promoting it as smaller and more intimate than its predecessors. Parker praised Ansell, who plays Egg, as “the greatest child actor in the world,” and commended Claffey for his joyful portrayal of the naive knight Dunk.
Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, also announced that Euphoria Season 3 will premiere in April 2026, though a specific date has yet to be determined. Showrunner Sam Levinson discussed the new season, which features a five-year time jump.
“I always think it is exciting to write this show because there are aspects I can draw from my own life,” Levinson said, acknowledging his past struggles with addiction. He noted that the upcoming season will depict characters navigating life beyond the safety net of school: “The stakes are a bit higher than they were in the past as the consequences are real.”
During the event, Bloys highlighted other programming, including Steve Carell’s Rooster, Jason Bateman’s Dtf: St. Louis, and the French-language thriller Privileges, among others.
Bloys commended his creative team for their sustained success, citing award and ratings achievements, including Task, IT: Welcome to Derry, and Mexico’s unexpected hit, Chespirito: Not Really on Purpose.
He concluded by stating that the 2025-26 slate reflects “the first time we view our slate through a global lens.”
