Chloë Grace Moretz Shares Her Joy in Reuniting with Onscreen Mom Michelle Pfeiffer After More Than Ten Years

Chloë Grace Moretz and Michelle Pfeiffer are back together, reprising their roles as a mother and daughter in the holiday comedy Oh. What. Fun.. This collaboration comes more than a decade after they first portrayed the same dynamic in Tim Burton’s 2012 film Dark Shadows.
During the film’s world premiere at Alice Tully Hall in New York City on December 2, Moretz expressed her excitement about the project. She described Dark Shadows as one of her “favorite” films, and spoke highly of working with Pfeiffer.
“Working with Michelle to begin with was incredible,” Moretz said. “Coming back for a part two, in a way of playing mother-daughter, was so exciting.”

Oh. What. Fun. features an impressive ensemble cast including Felicity Jones, Denis Leary, Dominic Sessa, Eva Longoria, Maude Apatow, and Danielle Brooks. The film also features new holiday music from artists such as Fleet Foxes, Gwen Stefani, and Sharon Van Etten.
The Amazon Prime Original focuses on Pfeiffer’s character, Claire Clauster, as she navigates holiday challenges. In her quest for family support, Claire tries to encourage her children—played by Moretz, Jones, and Sessa—to nominate her for a coveted annual Christmas contest hosted by her favorite TV personality, Zazzi Tims (Longoria).

Despite portraying a complicated relationship on screen, Moretz and Pfeiffer maintain a positive rapport off-screen. Moretz has expressed interest in collaborating with Pfeiffer again, stating, “Hopefully, we’ll get an Oh. What. Fun. 2, and we can see us play mother-daughter again.”
Since their first on-screen collaboration, both actresses have expanded their film portfolios. Moretz has starred in several notable films, including Carrie (2013) and Kick-Ass 2 (2013), while Pfeiffer has appeared in the Ant-Man series and acclaimed works like Murder on the Orient Express (2017).

Working on Oh. What. Fun. infused Moretz with holiday cheer. She recently shared her favorite Christmas movies, including Elf and Home Alone 2. “Family Stone is one I watch every year. I always watch that,” she remarked, noting its emotional depth and featuring Diane Keaton, whom she admires.
