College Football Playoff Championship Set: Indiana Faces Miami
The College Football Playoff (CFP) has narrowed its championship showdown to two teams: undefeated No. 1 seed Indiana and the University of Miami. They will compete for the national title on Monday, January 19, at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium.
ESPN will broadcast the game, scheduled to kick off at 7:50 p.m. ET (4:50 p.m. PT). The network will utilize its "MegaCast" format, offering 14 different broadcast options across multiple platforms, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, and ACC Network. Fans can also catch the game on ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes, and via streaming on the ESPN app.
Pregame coverage will begin at 5 p.m. ET, featuring College GameDay with hosts Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Nick Saban.
On the main ESPN telecast, Chris Fowler and Herbstreit will call their twelfth consecutive CFP National Championship, with sideline reporting from Holly Rowe (Indiana) and Molly McGrath (Miami). Additionally, Field Pass with The Pat McAfee Show will air on ESPN2, featuring McAfee on the sidelines.
For Spanish-speaking audiences, ESPN Deportes will feature Eduardo Varela, Pablo Viruega, Sebastian M. Christensen, and Carlos Nava providing commentary. On ESPN Radio, Sean McDonough and analyst Greg McElroy will cover the game from the booth.
Indiana is seeking its first national title, riding momentum from Heisman-winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Miami, historically a championship powerhouse, aims for its sixth title, the first since 2001.
The CFP kicked off with four first-round games on December 19 and 20, followed by quarterfinal matches on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The quarterfinal winners advanced to the semifinals on January 8-9, culminating in the national championship.
