Get Ready for an Intense Game: Redondo Union vs. Mira Costa Showdown
Excitement Builds for Redondo Union vs. Mira Costa Basketball Showdown
In an eagerly anticipated Bay League matchup, Redondo Union High School hosts Mira Costa on Friday night. When these South Bay rivals collide, the stakes are always high, and the unexpected often unfolds.
Redondo Union currently holds the No. 2 spot in the Southland rankings, as reported by The Times, and is poised to compete in the Southern Section Open Division playoffs. Under the leadership of Coach Reggie Morris Jr., the Sea Hawks boast an impressive record of 18-3. Key players include SJ Madison, Chace Holley, and Chris Sanders. Meanwhile, Mira Costa, with a record of 19-3 and ranked No. 19, is spearheaded by junior guard Paxx Bell, who averages 18 points and eight rebounds per game.
A crucial element of this matchup will be the effectiveness of each team’s full-court press. Redondo Union thrives on fast breaks and generating scoring opportunities through aggressive defense, a style mirrored by Mira Costa.
“They love to press and we love to press,” remarked Mira Costa coach Neal Perlmutter.
Beyond the basketball action, the energetic student sections featuring surfers, volleyball players, baseball players, football players, softball players, and swimmers, add to the vibrant atmosphere of the game.
The rivalry will not conclude with this game, as a rematch is set for February 3 at Mira Costa, marking the final regular-season game for both teams.
