Issa Rae Joins Forces with Paramount for Exciting Film and TV Partnership
Nine-time Emmy nominee Issa Rae has signed a three-year first-look film and television production deal with Paramount, led by David Ellison. This partnership follows similar agreements with high-profile creators including the Duffer Brothers and Will Smith. Rae’s contract is set to commence this month.
As the creator and star of HBO’s acclaimed series Insecure, Rae will collaborate closely with Paramount Pictures co-chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein, along with Paramount Television Studios president Matt Thunell and Motion Picture Group president Don Granger.
In expressing her enthusiasm about the new collaboration, Rae stated, “I’m so looking forward to starting this next chapter with the incredible team at Paramount to tell stories for and by the diverse communities that have supported my work over the years.”
Goldberg and Greenstein remarked, “Issa is a true creative force whose work consistently feels fresh, funny, and deeply human. She epitomizes the kind of exceptional artist we’re proud to partner with across film and TV to break new ground in elevated storytelling.”
A native of South Los Angeles, Rae created and starred in Insecure, which earned multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations as well as a Peabody Award. Following the success of the series, she founded the media company Hoorae, focused on advancing storytelling and representation in film, television, and digital content.
Hoorae’s portfolio includes projects such as The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl, A Black Lady Sketch Show, Sweet Life: Los Angeles, Rap Sh!t, Project Greenlight, Seen & Heard, and the Sony R-rated comedy One of Them Days.
Rae’s recent film credits feature appearances in American Fiction, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Barbie.
