LeBron James Shines in Lakers’ 141-116 Victory Over Hawks, Ending Three-Game Skid
Lakers End Losing Streak with Strong Win Over Hawks
LeBron James delivered a stellar performance with 31 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a decisive 141-116 victory against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night. This win marked a significant turnaround for the Lakers, who had been facing a three-game losing streak.
Luka Doncic complemented James’s effort by scoring 27 points and providing 12 assists. The Lakers built an impressive 32-point lead early in the second half, effectively withstanding a late rally from the Hawks. This victory comes after a notably challenging stretch, as the Lakers have only lost four consecutive games once since acquiring Doncic nearly a year ago.
In his second game of the back-to-back series during his remarkable 23rd NBA season, James fell just short of achieving a triple-double, a feat he last accomplished on February 1 in New York, the same day that marked the Lakers’ significant trade for Doncic.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker and CJ McCollum led the Hawks’ efforts with 26 and 25 points, respectively. The Hawks had previously secured wins on their West Coast road trip but struggled to gain momentum against the Lakers.
Corey Kispert also contributed with 19 points, marking his and McCollum’s second game with Atlanta following a trade from Washington that sent Trae Young to the Wizards. Meanwhile, Los Angeles showcased a remarkable performance from behind the arc, connecting on 19 three-pointers after a disappointing outing in Sacramento just one day earlier.
Despite dealing with left groin soreness, Doncic played a crucial role, hitting three consecutive three-pointers and spearheading a 17-0 run in the second quarter. The Lakers dominated the first half, shooting nearly 62% and heading into halftime with an 81-60 lead—their highest-scoring half of the season.
Though the Hawks cut the lead to 11 points later in the game, the Lakers ultimately extended their advantage for a commanding win. Rui Hachimura returned from a seven-game absence and scored seven points, albeit under a minutes restriction.
Kristaps Porzingis (Achilles tendon) and Zaccharie Risacher (knee) were not available for the Hawks during their trip.
The Hawks will continue their road trip with a game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, while the Lakers are set to host the Charlotte Hornets the same evening.
