Matt Damon’s Daughter Gia Shares a Lighthearted Moment on the ‘The Rip’ Red Carpet
Matt Damon Receives Playful Mocking from Daughter at Premiere
At the premiere of The Rip in New York City, actor Matt Damon found himself the subject of good-natured ribbing from his 17-year-old daughter, Gia. The lighthearted moment was captured in a video shared by Entertainment Tonight on January 13.
As Damon posed alongside his co-star and producer, Ben Affleck, Gia humorously questioned his stance. "Why are you standing like this?" she asked, playfully mimicking her father’s pose, which featured him leaning forward with arms outstretched. The moment not only elicited laughter from those nearby but also showcased the warm father-daughter dynamic.
In an endearing response, Damon embraced Gia’s teasing, recreating the pose before breaking into a wide grin. Gia, joined by her mother Luciana Barroso and her sisters, Isabella and Stella, watched on, clearly enjoying the playful exchange.
The evening saw the Damon family shine on the red carpet. Luciana dazzled in a strapless red gown while their daughters wore equally glamorous figure-hugging dresses. The family’s impressive appearance was a testament to their united front during the high-profile event.
Affleck, also in attendance, spoke fondly of his long-standing friendship with Damon. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, he remarked, “I keep relearning things about Matt that I already knew and I forget them. Honestly, I am continuously reminded of what a great father he is and what a fabulous actor he is.”

The Rip, which marks the latest professional collaboration between the two actors, follows a group of Miami authorities who stumble upon a vast sum of money, prompting them to question who they can trust. During a promotion on The Howard Stern Show on January 12, Damon shared a humorous anecdote about Luciana having watched Good Will Hunting before they met, recalling that she initially thought Affleck was “the cute one.”
Damon humorously recounted, “I think I met her best friend from high school, and it came out that the two of them went and saw Good Will Hunting together and her best friend thought I was the cute one and she thought Ben was the cute one.”
The evening was not only significant for the premiere but also highlighted the strong familial and friendship bonds within Damon’s life, underscoring their mutual support in both personal and professional arenas.
