Pasadena Eatery Committed to Supporting Locals Experiences Break-In
Pasadena Restaurant Burglarized Over New Year’s Weekend
PASADENA, Calif. — A Pasadena restaurant known for its community support during the Eaton fires was burglarized over the New Year’s holiday weekend. Thieves stole a speaker and several food items from the establishment.
The break-in has left staff, particularly employee Nicolle Charity, disheartened. Charity’s family suffered the loss of two homes in the fires, and she had recently helped serve free holiday meals to those in need. “We probably would have given them [the items] if they needed them,” she remarked, highlighting the restaurant’s commitment to community service.
Neighbors and Friends is more than just a café; it also serves as a community resource center, distributing donations to those in need. The restaurant was previously featured by FOX 11 for its role in providing free food, toiletries, and support to victims of the Eaton fires.
The recent break-in occurred while the restaurant was still engaged in delivering free meals, making the incident particularly painful. “It’s heartbreaking,” Charity expressed.
As news of the break-in spread, community members rallied to support the restaurant. Many have visited to offer help, and an online fundraiser has been established for those who wish to contribute.
Charity expressed profound gratitude for the community’s response. Yet, the impact of the burglary extends beyond the stolen items; it has left the establishment facing a broken window and impending insurance claims that could lead to higher rates. More importantly, the incident reopened emotional wounds and reinforced a belief in the community’s resilience and willingness to support one another in times of need.
