Shooting Near Long Beach Poly High School Leaves Student Injured
Long Beach Poly High School Student Hospitalized After Nearby Shooting
A student from Long Beach Poly High School was hospitalized Thursday morning following a shooting incident in close proximity to the school.
The shooting occurred around 8:30 a.m. near Long Beach Boulevard and 17th Street, just west of the campus. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear at this time.
According to a spokesperson for the Long Beach Unified School District, the student received medical attention upon arriving at the school before being transported to a local hospital. Details regarding the student’s condition have not yet been disclosed.
"The incident occurred off campus, and the school remains safe," the district spokesperson stated. "LBUSD School Safety is maintaining an increased presence on campus as a precaution. Our thoughts are with the student and his family as they focus on recovery."
As of Thursday morning, no arrests had been reported in connection with the shooting.
