Spencer Pratt, Reality TV Star and Pacific Palisades Local, Announces Candidacy for LA Mayor
Spencer Pratt Announces Run for Los Angeles Mayor
LOS ANGELES – Television personality Spencer Pratt has declared his candidacy for mayor of Los Angeles. He made the announcement during the "They Let Us Burn" protest, marking the one-year anniversary of the Palisades Fire, which claimed his home.
Pratt, alongside his wife Heidi Montag, has been a prominent critic of city and state responses to wildfire management since the disaster. In his speech at the rally, he expressed frustration with the current leadership, stating, “I have realized the city I love is being managed into the ground by people who don’t have the courage to actually lead.” He pointed to the disappearance of $100 million in FireAid funds, arguing that the system is fundamentally flawed and designed to benefit a select few while failing the wider community.
“This isn’t just a campaign for me, but a mission to expose the system,” Pratt asserted, emphasizing his intent to bring transparency to local politics. “We are going into every dark corner of LA politics and disinfecting the city with our light. LA is going to be camera-ready again,” he added.
As the race for the 2026 mayoral election heats up, the LA City Ethics Commission has already registered 21 candidates. The primary election is set for June 2, 2026, with a potential runoff on November 3, 2026, if no candidate secures a majority. Current Mayor Karen Bass is expected to run for re-election, setting the stage for a competitive election cycle in Los Angeles.
