Netflix Prepares for Season 2 of Culinary Class Wars with a New Trailer
Culinary Class Wars will return for its second season on Netflix on December 16.
The inaugural season of the Korean cooking competition series achieved remarkable success, making it a significant hit for the platform. Netflix officially renewed the series in October.
Culinary Class Wars made history as the first Korean unscripted series to dominate Netflix’s Global Top 10 (Non-English TV) list for three consecutive weeks. In a Gallup Korea survey from September 2024, it was also recognized as “the most beloved series among Korean viewers.” Netflix credited the show with playing a vital role in revitalizing Seoul’s dining culture.
In the series, ‘Black Spoon’ hidden masters rise from the underground to compete against South Korea’s elite ‘White Spoon’ chefs in a range of intense kitchen challenges.

The White Spoon team includes esteemed names such as two-Michelin-star chef Lee Jun, Son Jong-won, recognized for his expertise in both Korean and Western cuisines, and Venerable Sunjae, the first master of Buddhist temple cuisine in Korea. Other notable chefs on the roster are Hou Deok-juk, a veteran of Chinese cuisine; French cuisine icon Park Hyo-nam; as well as more recent stars like Jung Ho-young, Sam Kim, Raymon Kim, Song Hoon, a judge from MasterChef Korea Season 4, and Im Seong-keun, a winner from Hansik Battle Season 3.
The Black Spoons are identified by intriguing nicknames, including ‘Three-Star Killer,’ ‘Seochon Prince,’ ‘Culinary Monster,’ and ‘Barbecue Lab Director.’
This upcoming season will introduce new rules and the surprising return of two masked competitors, alongside the signature blind tastings where judges will assess dishes based solely on flavor.
Key figures from the first season, including producers Kim Hak-min and Kim Eun-ji, along with writer Mo Eun-sol from Studio Slam, are returning for the new installment.
Netflix is continuing to heavily invest in Korean unscripted programs, as these series resonate strongly with audiences worldwide. For instance, Physical: Asia has recently maintained a presence in the Global Non-English Top 10 list for three weeks. The success of Culinary Class Wars is anticipated to follow suit, along with other recently launched titles like the mystery game show Crime Scene Zero.
