John Travolta has revived his iconic role as Danny Zuko with a festive twist in a new advertisement for Capital One. In the latest commercial, the veteran actor appears as Santa Claus, infusing holiday cheer into his well-known character from the 1978 classic Grease.
In the 30-second spot, Travolta, 71, is seen in a bustling automotive garage, dressed as Santa and clutching a sack of toys while contemplating a modern sleigh. With characteristic humor, he quips, “Ho, ho, ho, ho! Why, this sleigh could be frost-o-matic, tinsel-matic, 1.5% cash back-o-matic.” The festive rendition continues as he announces, “It’s Greased Lightnin’,” using a Capital One credit card for his purchase.
Following this, Travolta launches into a familiar performance of "Greased Lightnin’," echoing his original portrayal from the film. The commercial features the actor displaying his signature dance moves, joined by a troupe of Santa’s elves and a stylish reindeer sporting sunglasses. Concluding with a memorable line, he asks, “Ho, ho, ho—what’s in your wallet?” as a sleek, convertible-like sleigh takes flight, flanked by a reindeer.

This recent advertisement isn’t Travolta’s first nod to his film history in a marketing campaign. Last year, he shared the screen with Samuel L. Jackson, referencing their legendary performances in Pulp Fiction more than 26 years after its initial release.
In the current holiday-themed commercial, Travolta once again dons the Santa suit, this time shopping for Christmas gifts for his elves. He humorously includes items like tins of hot chocolate, bags of marshmallows, and “3,000 bolo ties,” the latter a clever reference to his character Vincent Vega.
The ad wraps up with a recreation of the iconic dance scene from Pulp Fiction, but set to the upbeat tune of Chuck Berry’s "Run Run Rudolph."
Travolta has previously celebrated his Grease roots by surprising fans with an appearance dressed as Danny Zuko during a sing-along event at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Posting on Instagram, he shared, “Tonight at the Hollywood Bowl, for the first time, I surprised everyone at the GREASE Sing-A-Long and dressed up as Danny Zuko. No one knew. Not even the cast. Thank you for a great evening.”
In a subsequent video, the actor delighted the audience as he approached the stage, reminiscing about his character with playful banter that further endeared him to fans.
