Baldwin Hills Hit-and-Run: Arrest in Tragic Death of 4-Year-Old
Two Arrests Made in Separate Hit-and-Run Cases in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Police Department has announced two arrests connected to separate hit-and-run incidents, resulting in tragic fatalities.
In the first case, 4-year-old Ma’Cya Clark died on March 18 after the vehicle he was traveling in crashed into a building during a street race. The crash occurred near Crenshaw Boulevard and Rodeo Place in the Baldwin Hills area. Both Ma’Cya and his mother, who were passengers in the Infiniti SUV, fled the scene following the accident, according to police.
Shanae Monique Glover, the supposed driver, was arrested on December 23 and is currently held on $2 million bail. She has been charged with murder, vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, and hit-and-run driving causing death, as per court documents. Ma’Cya’s mother, who also participated in fleeing the crash site and subsequently went into hiding, was arrested on suspicion of child cruelty.
Additional Arrest Related to Fatal Hit-and-Run
During a recent press conference, police further disclosed the arrest of a suspect involved in a second fatal hit-and-run incident from July. In this case, 25-year-old Emerson Noel Escobar Gonzalez was killed in a two-vehicle collision at Figueroa and 91st streets in the Vermont Vista area. Law enforcement reported that a woman driving a Porsche struck Gonzalez’s vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
The suspect, identified as Cierra Whitaker, allegedly left California after the incident but was tracked down by federal authorities in Atlanta. She was taken into custody and booked into jail in Los Angeles on December 18 but was later released on bond. Whitaker is expected to appear in court in Compton on January 6, where a date will be set for a hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence for her prosecution on charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run driving resulting in death.
