NFL Adjusts TV Schedule for Exciting Steelers-Ravens Sunday Night Football Matchup
The NFL has released the complete schedule for Week 18, set for Saturday, January 3, and Sunday, January 4. The regular season will conclude in Pittsburgh, featuring a critical matchup that will determine playoff standings.
In a strategic move, the league has flexed a key game between the Baltimore Ravens (8-8) and the Pittsburgh Steelers (9-7) to Sunday Night Football. This matchup not only holds implications for the AFC North title but also the conference’s No. 4 playoff seed.
The decision has drawn mixed reactions. A commentary from the San Francisco Chronicle noted, “The NFL decided the San Francisco 49ers playing the Seattle Seahawks for the NFC’s top seed was less important than the Ravens and Steelers playing for a division title.”
Seattle and San Francisco will now compete in a less favorable slot on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN/ABC.
Complicating matters, the status of Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson remains uncertain. Additionally, Steelers’ top wide receiver DK Metcalf is set to serve a suspension in the second of two games, and tight end Darnell Washington has been ruled out due to a broken arm.
This weekend’s schedule features a doubleheader, kicking off with the Carolina Panthers facing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 4:30 p.m. ET, also broadcast on ESPN/ABC.
