A Sweet Tradition: This Candy Shop Has Been Making Holiday Treats Since 1933
Logan’s Candies in Ontario Hosts Popular Candy Cane Demonstrations Until January 3
Logan’s Candies, a beloved confectionery establishment in Downtown Ontario, has been drawing crowds for its festive candy cane demonstrations, which will continue through January 3. For over 90 years, this shop, approximately an hour east of Los Angeles, has become a holiday hotspot, renowned for its homemade candy canes.
Owner Jerry Rowley prepares candy canes daily by heating a mixture of sugar water and corn syrup to 320 degrees for 40 minutes. After adding color and flavor, he skillfully stretches the hot candy on a wall-mounted hook. Rowley’s passion for his craft is evident, as he enthusiastically shares the candy-making process with visitors.
The demonstrations have grown so popular that Logan’s Candies now sells tickets for guests eager to witness the spectacle. Families often line up on the sidewalk, peering through windows to catch a glimpse of the action inside.
Founded by Charles “Pop” Logan and Frances Delman Logan in 1933 on Euclid Avenue, Logan’s Candies has a storied history. Rowley began working at the shop as a teenager and took over in 1982 with his wife, Susi. Although the original location has since become a city park, the shop relocated to a quieter block nearby, adjacent to a boxing gym and a Zumba school.
In addition to its signature candy canes, Logan’s Candies offers a variety of handmade chocolates, fudge, peanut brittle, caramel apples, and more than 600 different candy items, a third of which are produced on-site. The shop has gained significant online attention, with tens of millions of viewers on TikTok captivated by the candy-making process.
As the holiday season progresses, Logan’s Candies remains a cherished destination for locals and visitors alike, celebrating traditions that have delighted generations.
