2026 Awards Season Style Trends: A-Listers Embrace Regal Looks with Long Trains and Gloves on the Red Carpet
With the 2026 Actor Awards and the 98th Academy Awards on the horizon, celebrities are poised to make a grand statement on the red carpet. As predicted, attendees are expected to showcase a regal aesthetic, complete with dramatic gowns and elegant opera gloves.
The Actor Awards, set to take place on March 1 at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, will feature fierce competition across multiple categories, including Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Many renowned stars will gather to ascertain who will take home the coveted awards.

The Academy Awards will follow on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood, promising an exciting night of recognition for cinematic excellence. First-time Best Actress nominee Teyana Taylor recently made waves at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards, where she showcased a striking Burberry trench dress in deep plum with a cascading train.
“I might not be thinking about a speech, but I am absolutely thinking about a ‘fit. You know what I mean? I will throw a ‘fit on that club,” the 35-year-old actress stated in an interview with People ahead of the Oscars, adding, “It’s going to be good, though. It’s going to be good.”
Additionally, Odessa A’zion, who starred in Marty Supreme, added elegance to her outfit at the 2026 Golden Globes by accessorizing with black satin gloves and sparkling cocktail rings. The actress, 25, opted for a vintage Dolce & Gabbana combination featuring a feathered off-the-shoulder top along with wide-leg trousers. “A big style inspiration always is rock ’n’ roll. Rock stars. Janis Joplin. Jimi Hendrix. Lauryn Hill. Pink Floyd. Weezer. Keith Richards,” A’zion shared with Elle, advocating for wearing what complements one’s body and promotes comfort.
Fashion expert Melissa Rivers reflected on trends observed during the 2026 Golden Globes, noting a prevalent color scheme of black and white. She humorously pointed out that various monochromatic combinations were common on the carpet.
Furthermore, Rivers expressed a desire for a popular trend to come to an end: “I need the naked dress to retire,” she remarked. “We have been seeing a naked dress since the late ‘90s with Zuhair Murad and Roberto Cavalli. And it just keeps going. At least we didn’t have the fear with being able to see people’s underwear; like I never bought into that.”
