Zed Launches Pre-Sales for ‘Destination Moon: The New Space Age’ Just as NASA Prepares for Artemis II
Paris-based documentary house Zed is intensifying its sales efforts for Destination Moon: The New Space Age as the NASA Artemis mission—central to the series—prepares for its second stage.
This five-part docudrama, created by Laurent Lichtenstein and Alain Brunard, focuses on NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to send astronauts on progressively challenging missions to the moon as a precursor to crewed expeditions to Mars.
Zed has announced a series of pre-sales for the documentary, a collaborative venture involving public broadcasters such as France Télévisions (France), NHK (Japan), ZDF Terra X (Germany), and PTS (Taiwan).
Among the broadcasters that have pre-bought the series are SVT (Sweden), PTS (Taiwan), RTS (French-speaking Switzerland), RSI (Italian-speaking Switzerland), AMC Southern Europe (Spain and Portugal), GPB (Georgia), and Telma TV (North Macedonia).
Watch on Deadline
France Télévisions (France 2) is set to air the series in early April, with the air date contingent upon the launch of Artemis II. Meanwhile, Zed continues to extend distribution to additional platforms and broadcasters.
The series highlights preparations for Artemis III, during which two astronauts are expected to walk on the moon for the first time in over 50 years. Simultaneously, it offers insights into Artemis II, scheduled for launch on Wednesday, which will see four astronauts orbit the moon for ten days.
Combining interviews with actual astronauts and scientists from the Kennedy Space Center and European research institutions involved in the project, the series also follows a fictional character named Amanda, featuring CGI and live-action footage.
“Destination Moon offers a front-row seat to Artemis III, with exclusive interviews of astronauts and engineers, spectacular cinematic CGI, and real-world stakes that keep you on the edge of your seat. A premium global event mini-series that brings the Moon closer than ever,” stated Charlotte Tachet, Zed’s Head of Distribution and Acquisitions.
