Zachary Levi Shares His Thoughts on Seedance 2.0 and Its Impact on Hollywood
Zachary Levi Expresses Astonishment Over ‘Seedance 2.0’ AI Technology
Actor Zachary Levi has recently voiced his amazement regarding the capabilities of the ByteDance AI model, known as Seedance 2.0. The star of Shazam! shared his thoughts on social media, demonstrating a keen interest in the project’s rapid technological advancements.
Levi took to Twitter to express his surprise, stating he was “gobsmacked” by the technology after sharing user-generated videos. In a post featuring a video from The Dor Brothers—AI creators who claimed to have produced the equivalent of a $200 million movie in just one day—he questioned, “Are. We. Paying. Attention. Yet??”
In further remarks, Levi clarified that his focus was not on the final product of Seedance 2.0 but rather on the astonishing speed with which generative AI models are evolving. “I don’t share posts about the progress of AI content because I like it, or even think it’s, at this moment, on par with human creativity and artistry. I share them as continuous updates in the evolutionary process of what will eventually become INDISTINGUISHABLE from human-made art and entertainment,” he noted.
He elaborated on the current state of AI content creation, saying, “You can call it slop all you want. And most of it is still that. But only for now.” Levi recalled how merely three years ago, a video titled “Will Smith Eating Spaghetti” was considered a bizarre creation, whereas today, it has become a form of found footage featuring the actor.
“This is where we are. Right now. It’s not going to get any worse. It will only keep getting better. We can collectively bury our heads in the sand, or we can do something about it,” he urged.
Seedance 2.0 has gained significant traction, particularly for its use in creating fan-made videos of superheroes, including content featuring Levi’s own character, Shazam.
This new technology has raised alarms in Hollywood, prompting legal threats against ByteDance from major U.S. studios, including Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of DC Studios. In response to widespread backlash, ByteDance has committed to enhancing "safeguards" related to Seedance 2.0.
