Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein Partner with Sony for Exciting New ‘Metal Gear Solid’ Movie Project
The highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid movie is set to become a reality, marking a significant milestone as the first film adaptation of the iconic video game franchise. Producers Avi Arad and Ari Arad will oversee the project. Their collaboration with directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will be enhanced by the newly formed company, Wonderlab, which is tasked with developing films for their direction as well as original projects for other filmmakers. Previously, Lipovsky and Stein have been working on an animated Venom movie for Sony Pictures Animation and the sci-fi epic The Earthling for Columbia Pictures. They are producing the latter alongside Eric Heisserer and Scott Glassgold.
Wonderlab aims to create compelling, commercially successful, and genre-defying films. Lipovsky and Stein are currently engaging with industry executives to help shape the direction of the company.

Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership, stating, “Zach and Adam are thrilling storytellers, masters of visuals and suspense, and two of the most impressive director/producers working today. With projects across all the company’s film labels, we are so happy to create a home for them, and proud to have them as part of the Sony family.”
Lipovsky and Stein remarked, “We are honored to be partnering with the incredible executive team at Sony. While working with several Sony teams in the last year, we’ve been blown away by the level of creativity, thoughtfulness, and passion we felt in every conversation. We share the vision that Tom, Sanford, Peter, Louie, Kristine, Damien, Ashley, and the whole Sony team have for creating theatrical event films that entertain the world.”
On the Metal Gear Solid adaptation, the directors stated, “As long-term fans of the game, we are thrilled and honored to bring Hideo Kojima’s iconic characters and unforgettable world to life.”
Last year, Lipovsky and Stein gained attention for Final Destinations Bloodlines, which received critical acclaim and emerged as the highest-grossing installment in a revitalized franchise. Their upcoming projects also include The Traveler for Paramount, Gremlins 3 for Warner Bros., and Long Lost for Universal/Amblin, along with a sequel to their cult favorite indie sci-fi film Freaks, for which they have recently completed production.
