Yongsoo Kim Promoted to President of Webtoon Entertainment as Film and TV Division Gears Up for New Projects
Webtoon Entertainment has appointed Yongsoo Kim as President, positioning him to oversee the global operations of the prominent webcomics company.
Webtoon and Wattpad are both subsidiaries of Naver. The two platforms have collaborated through Webtoon Productions, which is actively developing titles for film and television. This production unit is managed by industry veteran David Madden, as highlighted in a recent feature on their upcoming projects.
Currently, Webtoon Productions has several high-profile projects in development, including Chasing Red featuring Madelaine Petsch and Gavin Casalegno, a film adaptation of Flor M. Salvador’s ‘Boulevard’ in partnership with Sony Pictures International Productions, Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment, and Something’s Wrong In Stagtown through Margot Robbie’s Lucky Chap Entertainment.
Kim’s new role as President includes oversight of the film and television division. He previously served as Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Global Operations, having joined Webtoon Entertainment in 2022. Kim played a pivotal role in the company’s IPO in 2024 and has been instrumental in launching Video Episodes, enhancing Creator programs, and integrating Webtoon Productions, formerly known as Wattpad Webtoon Studios.
Under the new leadership structure, Webtoon’s founder and CEO, Junkoo Kim, will focus on long-term strategy and vision. Yongsoo Kim will lead global operations and execution as President and will also take a seat on the board. David Lee will continue in his roles as CFO and COO.

Before joining Webtoon, Yongsoo Kim was associated with KKR and was part of the founding team for Tesla’s operations in Korea.
