Wonder Man Returns for Season 2 on Disney+
Marvel has officially renewed Wonder Man for a second season on Disney+. The series, which stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the lead role, was announced as part of Disney’s continued investment in its streaming content.
Abdul-Mateen II will reprise his role as Simon Williams, with Ben Kingsley returning as Trevor Slattery. This confirmation came from Disney on Monday.
The series’ co-creators, Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, will also return for the new season. Guest will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Cretton will return as director and executive producer.
Wonder Man first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1964, created by writer Stan Lee and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. The Disney+ series follows aspiring actor Simon Williams, portrayed by Abdul-Mateen II, as he navigates the challenges of his stagnant acting career. A chance encounter with Trevor Slattery—played by Kingsley—leads Simon to a significant opportunity involving a remake of the superhero film Wonder Man. This narrative offers viewers insights into the often complex entertainment industry.
As Simon seeks his breakthrough in Hollywood, he begins to develop superpowers. In the trailer, he is seen signing a document for Agent Cleary, played by Arian Moayed. Cleary, a representative from the Department of Damage Control, classifies Simon as an “extraordinary threat” shortly before his powers surface.
The first season premiered on January 27, showcasing all eight episodes. Details regarding the release date for the upcoming season remain unconfirmed.
