Woman Wanted in Connection with Attack on Musician Lindsey Buckingham
Warrant Issued for Suspect in Attack on Lindsey Buckingham
An arrest warrant has been issued for a woman accused of assaulting former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham in Santa Monica, California. According to law enforcement sources, the incident occurred as Buckingham arrived for an appointment.
The attack took place on Wednesday when the suspect reportedly threw an unknown substance at the 76-year-old musician. After the incident, the woman fled the scene. Authorities indicate that Buckingham is familiar with the suspect due to previous encounters.
Detectives believe she had knowledge of Buckingham’s schedule, enabling her to confront him at the location of his appointment. Fortunately, Buckingham was unharmed during the incident.
Santa Monica police, in collaboration with the LAPD, are actively investigating the matter. NBC4 Investigates has reached out to Buckingham’s representatives for further comments.
Buckingham, born in Palo Alto, became a prominent member of Fleetwood Mac in 1975, contributing to hits such as "Go Your Own Way," "Tusk," and "Big Love." He has won two Grammy Awards with the band, including Album of the Year for Rumours.
In addition to his work with Fleetwood Mac, he released a solo album in 1981 and partnered with former bandmate Christine McVie for a duet album in 2017. Buckingham’s tenure with Fleetwood Mac was marked by a complex relationship with fellow bandmate Stevie Nicks, and he was dismissed from the band in 2018.
