Woman Taken into Custody at UCLA Campus Following Infant’s Tragic Death
Woman Arrested on UCLA Campus Following Infant’s Death
A woman was arrested on Tuesday on the UCLA campus in connection with the death of her infant, according to Santa Monica police.
The incident unfolded just before noon when campus police informed the Santa Monica Police Department about a woman who reportedly indicated that she had harmed her child and left the infant in an apartment on Broadway. When officers arrived at the residence, they discovered the infant suffering from what police described as “significant” injuries.
The baby was transported to a nearby hospital, where tragically, the infant succumbed to those injuries.
Following the discovery, the woman was taken into custody and subsequently transported to Santa Monica Jail. Authorities have not yet clarified the charges she may face in relation to the case.
At this time, Santa Monica police have chosen not to release the identities of either the woman or the infant. The cause of the baby’s death will be determined by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
