Woman in LA County Faces Charges for Auto Insurance Fraud Scheme
Los Angeles Woman Charged with Insurance Fraud After Traffic Accident
A Los Angeles woman faces insurance fraud charges after allegedly purchasing coverage shortly after being involved in a traffic accident, according to the LA County District Attorney’s Office. Priscilla Lozano was arrested last Thursday in connection with what authorities describe as "crash and buy" fraud that took place in September 2025.
Investigators believe Lozano was uninsured at the time of the accident but later acquired a policy while misrepresenting the timing of the incident. The district attorney’s office emphasized the legal implications, stating, “Basically, anyone who drives in Los Angeles County without proper or adequate insurance, is involved in a traffic collision, and then buys the proper insurance after the accident and lies about when the accident happened, is guilty of insurance fraud.” The office noted that the intent behind such actions is often to cover repair costs or secure a financial payout for a totaled vehicle.
Lozano, 33, has since posted $25,000 bail and is awaiting her next court date. If convicted of insurance fraud, individuals may face up to five years in state prison or a fine of up to $50,000.
