Prince William and Kate Middleton Experience Curling in Scotland
During a recent visit to Scotland, Prince William and Kate Middleton engaged in a new sport: curling. The royal couple received guidance from members of Great Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic curling teams, showcasing their interest in the sport ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The event marked the Prince and Princess of Wales’s second joint appearance of 2026, where they took to the ice with a "wee bit of nervousness," according to observers.
Olympian Bruce Mouat expressed his excitement about meeting the royals, stating, "I was starstruck, to be honest. They walked into the ice rink just like two normal people would." He highlighted the significance of their visit, noting, “It was so cool, having the Prince and Princess shaking hands with us, chatting and wishing us good luck. I thought it was really special that they came along, and I was honoured to have the opportunity to teach them how to curl."
Mouat’s mixed-doubles partner, Jen Dodds, also described their experience, commenting on the couple’s initial apprehension: “You could tell they were a wee bit nervous about picking up a new sport. Obviously, it’s not normal to slide about on the ice, but for a first attempt, they both did very well. I was impressed by both of them."
As the Winter Olympics approach, the British curling team is aiming for success, following a fourth-place finish in mixed doubles at the 2022 Games. Mouat stated, "We’re hoping to go out there and finish off the job that we wanted to get done last time."
This royal engagement emphasizes not only the couple’s commitment to supporting British athletes but also their willingness to embrace new experiences.
