What We Know About Season 2 of Ransom Canyon
Netflix has announced the renewal of its Texas-set series, Ransom Canyon, for a second season. The show, inspired by the novel by Jodi Thomas, debuted in April and quickly garnered attention.
The renewal comes just two months after the premiere of the first season, which consisted of 10 episodes featuring intertwined storylines and a diverse ensemble cast.

Production Timeline
While there is currently no specified release date for Season 2, production has begun at Netflix Studios Albuquerque in New Mexico, the same location used for Season 1. The aim is to complete filming by January 2026.
New Characters
The second season will introduce several new characters. Notably, Patricia Clarkson has joined the cast as Claire O’Grady, Quinn’s mother, while Steve Howey will portray Staten’s half-brother, Levi.
The identity of a mysterious figure introduced in Season 1, whom Yancy had not previously mentioned to Ellie Estevez, will also be explored further, with Erica Dasher standing in for the role during a visit to the set.

Casey W. Johnson, who portrays Kit Russell, has been promoted to a series regular for the upcoming season. He has been central to key plotlines, particularly concerning Lucas Russell and the unfolding mystery of Season 1.
Returning guest cast members include Tatanka Means, Justin Johnson Cortez, Kenny Miller, Philip Winchester, Jennifer Ens, Brett Cullen, and Niko Guardado.

Season 1 focused on themes of love, land, and legacy within three ranches located in the Texas Hill Country town. The plot interwove multiple love triangles, including Staten and Quinn’s relationship alongside complexities involving Eoin Macken’s Davis Collins, Lucas and Lauren, and Yancy Grey and Ellie.
