Westlake High Athletes Launch ‘Make Great Plays’ Initiative to Inspire Young Students
Westlake High School’s student-athletes have come together to create an initiative called "Make Great Plays," aimed at motivating elementary school students to foster self-belief and ambition.
The program was inspired by the high school athletes’ desire to make a positive impact in their community. By engaging with younger students, they hope to instill confidence and encourage personal growth through sports and teamwork.
"We want these kids to know that they can achieve anything they set their minds to," said one student-athlete involved in the initiative. "Sports can teach important life lessons, and we want to share that with them."
The program includes interactive workshops, where high school athletes provide mentorship and share their experiences in sports and academics. By participating in various activities, elementary students will learn the value of hard work, perseverance, and team spirit.
"Make Great Plays" is positioned to not only promote physical activity but also to nurture a supportive environment for young learners. As these two groups interact, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between age demographics and create lasting connections within the community.
The launch of this program reflects a growing awareness of the role that mentorship can play in a child’s development, emphasizing how older peers can positively influence younger generations.
