War Machine Makes Waves on Netflix as Dinosaur Content Takes Over, from Spielberg’s Docuseries to the Jurassic World Franchise
Last week proved to be a dynamic one for Netflix, with viewers flocking to a diverse range of offerings. Highlights included the Alan Ritchson and Dennis Quaid film War Machine, new seasons of Bridgerton and The Night Agent, and an array of dinosaur-themed content.
As fans anticipate news of future Bridgerton seasons, many are still engaged with the culmination of Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie’s (Yerin Ha) romance in the recently released fourth season.
The latest season of Bridgerton dominated the Netflix TV Top 10, amassing 13.1 million views from March 2 to March 8. This marks the first complete week following the Season 4 finale, which dropped on February 26. The remaining episodes, which were released simultaneously, saw the season reach a total of 28 million views during its debut weekend.
Comparing the performance of the first half of the season with the latter half poses challenges due to Netflix’s unique methodology for split-season viewership. The platform calculates views by dividing total hours viewed by runtime, resulting in a different view count when additional episodes become available.
Notably, the initial four episodes of Season 4 gathered 23.4 million views in their first full week.
In the realm of Netflix adaptations, The Night Agent is reportedly gaining traction after an initial lukewarm response. The third season secured the No. 3 spot on this week’s Top 10 list with 5.2 million views. Momentum for the series has led to its recent renewal for another season.
A new docuseries from executive producer Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment, titled The Dinosaurs, climbed to second place, accumulating 10.4 million views. Narrated by Morgan Freeman, the series explores the rise, evolution, and extinction of dinosaurs over millions of years.
Additionally, interest in dinosaur content appeared robust, as the Jurassic World films dominated the English film list. Jurassic World Rebirth claimed the No. 2 spot with 6.7 million views, followed by Jurassic World at No. 6 with 3.2 million views, Jurassic World: Dominion at No. 8 with 2.8 million views, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom at No. 10 with 2.5 million views.
In television, the dark dramedy Vladimir, starring Rachel Weisz, secured the No. 4 position with 4.2 million views. Meanwhile, the military sci-fi action film War Machine topped the film category with an impressive 39.3 million views.
It is worth noting that the World Baseball Classic games do not contribute to Netflix’s Global Weekly Top 10, as they are streamed exclusively in Japan. Audience figures for these games will be available once the tournament concludes, following a similar policy that the platform employs for NFL games.
