Authorities Seek Suspects After Daytime Smash-and-Grab in Anaheim Hills
ANAHEIM, Calif. – Police are currently searching for at least three individuals connected to a bold daytime smash-and-grab robbery that occurred Friday afternoon at a jewelry store in Anaheim Hills.
Around midday, a group of suspects reportedly used a vehicle to crash into the store, allowing several masked individuals to enter. Store owner Ramcy Tabelo described the chaotic scene, stating, "Eight to ten guys run in with masks, trash cans, and crowbars, hammers, and smash every showcase. My gun was on the table, they grabbed my gun and at that point I thought I was going to get shot."
Following the robbery, the suspects escaped in two getaway cars, prompting police to pursue them. Both vehicles ultimately collided during their respective chases. The first crash took place at Lemon Street and Orangethorpe Avenue, involving multiple vehicles, while the second occurred about five minutes later at Euclid Street and Malvern Avenue, according to the Fullerton Police Department.
Upon inspecting one of the vehicles involved in the crashes, authorities discovered trays filled with stolen jewelry. One witness remarked, "The black box on top of the car is filled with diamonds and jewels. It’s pretty crazy."
As the situation unfolded, four suspects from the first crash were reported to have fled on foot. Meanwhile, those involved in the second crash also managed to escape the scene. By 9:30 p.m., five suspects had been apprehended, but officials continue to seek three additional individuals believed to be involved in the robbery.
