Video Captures Tense Moments Before Kidnapping Attempt on Mother and Daughter in Anaheim
Anaheim Man Charged with Attempted Kidnapping and Assault
Anaheim, Calif. – Jose Gudino, 59, has been charged with multiple felonies after an alleged attempted kidnapping and sexual assault of a mother and her 14-year-old daughter in Anaheim. The incident occurred on Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and East Street, as the pair walked home from a bus stop, according to local police.
Surveillance footage shows Gudino lurking beneath a freeway overpass, trailing the mother and daughter. He reportedly ducked behind a pillar, observing them before grabbing a plastic bag he had previously set down and following their path. Authorities state that Gudino jumped from the bushes, attempting to drag both victims while threatening them with sexual assault.
In a courageous response, the mother and daughter fought back against Gudino. They managed to capture a photograph of him during the struggle, which may aid the ongoing investigation. Shortly after, a good Samaritan stopped to assist, driving the pair to a police station.
Gudino now faces several felony counts, including two counts of attempted kidnapping to commit a sex offense and assault with intent to commit a sex offense against both an adult and a minor.
Police are currently working to identify the good Samaritan driver who intervened, as this information could be crucial for their investigation. The status of Gudino’s prior criminal record remains unspecified, and authorities are looking into whether he may be linked to other similar incidents in the area.
Gudino is scheduled for an arraignment in court, where he will enter a plea regarding the charges against him.
