Vanessa Williams Discusses Weight Loss Journey with Mounjaro and HRT
In a recent interview with Hello! magazine, Vanessa Williams shared her ongoing efforts to manage her weight during menopause, revealing her use of the GLP-1 medication Mounjaro, which she has been taking for two years. The 62-year-old actress and singer emphasized her desire to "look my best" amid the challenges of body changes during this transitional phase.
“I want to be here for a long time, and I want to look my best. So what am I going to do?” Williams stated, describing her journey as a "game-changer."
Having started experiencing the effects of perimenopause in her late forties, Williams reflected on the significant shifts she faced in her physique after turning 51. "My 50s were hard…you feel out of control because you’re working out the same way, eating the same, and your body is not reacting the way it used to," she remarked.
Mounjaro, an FDA-approved prescription medication primarily for type 2 diabetes, has gained attention for its weight loss efficacy. The drug, known generically as tirzepatide, helps curb appetite and enhance feelings of fullness, while also improving metabolic processes related to sugar and fat.
In addition to Mounjaro, Williams is undergoing hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and has recently initiated NAD+ injections. The National Institute of Health notes that NAD+ is crucial for cellular metabolism and influences aging pathways.
"Science is amazing. I’m like: ‘What’s next? Bring it on!’" expressed the former Miss America, advocating for the benefits of scientific advancements in wellness.
Williams joins a growing list of celebrities, including Rosie O’Donnell, Meghan Trainor, and Tori Spelling, who have embraced Mounjaro as part of their weight management strategies.
