Boys’ City Section
In an exciting round of high school basketball, AHSA edged Simon Tech with a score of 43-40. Animo Robinson delivered a dominant performance against Neuwirth Leadership, securing a 66-22 victory. Other notable matchups included Animo Watts narrowly defeating Animo Venice 57-53, and CALS Early College defeating Alliance Bloomfield 58-41. East College Prep showcased their strength with a considerable 73-29 win over Alliance Levine. Triumph Charter triumphed over Community Charter with a staggering score of 91-12, while USC Hybrid overcame Gertz-Ressler 53-34.
Southern Section
In the Southern Section, several teams also put on impressive displays. Adelanto beat Barstow 71-52, while Alta Loma secured a 65-50 victory against Los Altos. Anaheim went into overtime but managed to defeat Savanna 50-45. Animo Leadership exhibited their skills with a 75-28 win over Hawthorne, and Arcadia outperformed Glendale 76-44.
A tightly contested game saw Big Bear narrowly defeat Hesperia Christian 70-52. Other highlights included Bloomington’s 51-47 win against Kaiser and Buena Park’s 51-48 edge over Garden Grove. Chino triumphed over Montclair 72-58, while CIMSA defeated AAE 68-60. Colton showcased their talent by defeating San Gorgonio 74-28.
The evening continued with a slew of significant victories, including Compton Early College’s 43-40 win over Environmental Charter and Crean Lutheran’s decisive 57-41 win against Cypress. Damien triumphed 76-22 over Los Osos, while Desert Christian Academy secured a 57-50 win against Santa Rosa Academy.
Throughout the evening, there were numerous other impressive performances, including over 90 points from Rancho Cucamonga in their 99-88 victory against Chino Hills.
Intersectional Games
In intersectional action, Heritage Christian defeated Cleveland 59-44, and Rancho Dominguez claimed a 75-63 victory against Compton.
Girls’ City Section
In the City Section, Animo Watts cruised to a 70-14 victory against Animo Venice. Gertz-Ressler won against USC Hybrid with a 38-22 scoreline, while University Prep Value secured a 30-13 win over New Designs University Park.
Southern Section
The Southern Section showcased numerous compelling games. Alemany defeated Notre Dame Academy 63-35, and Aquinas edged Western Christian 48-44. Arcadia’s strong performance against Glendale ended with a score of 64-46.
In a remarkable display, Beckman overwhelmed Dana Hills 82-10. Brentwood and Burbank also secured solid wins, beating Viewpoint 62-22 and Pasadena 64-52, respectively. A highly competitive atmosphere prevailed, with teams like Etiwanda, who defeated Upland 73-11, making their mark.
The night capped off a thrilling day of high school basketball, exemplifying the competitive spirit of the sport across multiple divisions.
