Trevor Moore’s Overtime Goal Helps Kings Secure Wild-Card Position
Kings Secure Overtime Victory Against Blues
Los Angeles Kings forward Trevor Moore scored just 1:56 into overtime on Wednesday night, leading the team to a hard-fought 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues. The game took place at Crypto.com Arena, where the Kings halted a four-game losing streak at home.
Adrian Kempe contributed to the Kings’ efforts with a goal in the second period. With this victory, the Kings improved their position in the Western Conference, now occupying the second wild-card spot, one point ahead of both the San José Sharks and Nashville Predators. Anton Forsberg delivered a strong performance in goal, making 23 saves, including a crucial stop in the extra period.
The Blues’ Robert Thomas managed to equalize late in the third period, scoring on a deflected shot with 3:53 remaining in regulation. St. Louis goaltender Jordan Binnington recorded 24 saves but could not secure the win, as he faced a challenging shot from Moore that sealed the Kings’ victory. The Blues now find themselves four points behind the Kings for the playoff position.
Moore’s game-winning goal came after he outskated Jonatan Berggren along the right side, centered the puck, and fired a shot past Binnington. Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty provided assists on the decisive play.
The Kings had initially taken the lead when Kempe found the net with a power-play goal, a wrist shot that broke through at the 3:01 mark of the second period. Earlier in that period, Jared Wright nearly scored, but his goal was disallowed due to goaltender interference.
Next, the Kings will host the Nashville Predators on Thursday night, continuing their push for the playoffs.
