Tommy O’Brien Joins NBC’s Drama Pilot "Protection"
Tommy O’Brien, known for his roles in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story and Grown-ish, has been cast in the upcoming NBC drama pilot Protection, created and written by Josh Safran, recognized for his work on Quantico and Gossip Girl.
Protection centers on a U.S. marshal who, after falling in the line of duty, becomes embroiled in a deadly conspiracy. As a family of law enforcement agents becomes the target of a mysterious assassin, they must navigate personal differences and professional boundaries. To ensure their safety and seek justice, the Thornhill family must rely on their extensive experience in protecting civilians and politicians, even if it requires breaking their sworn code.
O’Brien will portray Micah Thornhill, a Secret Service agent who utilizes his charm as a significant asset. He joins previously announced cast members Peter Krause, who will play Mike Thornhill, and Hope Davis as Joan, a strong and respected U.S. Marshal.
Josh Safran will executive produce alongside Jenna Bush Hager and her executive, Ben Spector. Universal Television, part of Universal Studio Group, produces the series under Bush Hager’s first-look deal with Universal for her Thousand Voices production company. The pilot will be directed and executive produced by Rebecca Thomas.
O’Brien is represented by Momentum Talent & Literary Agency.
