Tom Pelphrey Teams Up with Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in Apple’s New Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Liminal’
Tom Pelphrey Cast in Apple’s Sci-Fi Thriller Liminal
Tom Pelphrey, noted for his recent performance in HBO’s Task, has secured a role in Liminal, a sci-fi action thriller produced by Apple. He will star alongside Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the film directed by Louis Leterrier.
Details regarding Pelphrey’s character and the film’s storyline remain undisclosed. Liminal is inspired by the graphic novel Telepaths, created by Eisner Award winners J. Michael Straczynski, Steve Epting, and Brian Reber. The narrative unfolds in a world where a tenth of the population suddenly acquires telepathic abilities due to an electromagnetic disturbance.
Produced by Apple Studios, Liminal features a screenplay by Justin Rhodes, known for Terminator: Dark Fate. The film will be produced by Zach Studin for AWA Studios and Kevin Walsh for The Walsh Company, which is part of Walsh’s overall agreement with Apple Studios. Ray Angelic will serve as executive producer alongside Straczynski, Epting, and Reber, while Patrick McNamara and Juliet Kirby will co-produce.
Pelphrey is anticipated to continue his awards season momentum due to his standout role in Task, where he stars opposite Mark Ruffalo. His portrayal of Robbie Prendergrast, a Philadelphia garbage collector turned trap house robber pursued by the FBI, has garnered him a Critics Choice Award nomination. This follows nominations for the Critics Choice and Emmys for his previous work in Netflix’s Ozark.
Looking ahead, Pelphrey will also appear in the dark comedy Rooster, where he stars alongside Grant Gustin. He is represented by Gersh, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Sloan, Offer, Weber & Dern.
